Terms of Service

Welcome to StudentJoin. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the StudentJoin platform, website, and services (collectively, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use StudentJoin.

1. Service Description

StudentJoin is a student study group matching platform that helps university students find and form study groups, connect with classmates, and collaborate on academic projects. The Service includes tools for group discovery, scheduling, in-app messaging, and study analytics. We offer both a free tier and a paid Pro subscription with additional features.

2. User Eligibility

To use StudentJoin, you must:

• Be currently enrolled at, or affiliated with, a recognized university or college.
• Register using a valid university email address (e.g., ending in .edu, .ac.uk, or other recognized academic domains).
• Be at least 18 years of age, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction.
• Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.

We reserve the right to verify your student status at any time and to suspend or terminate accounts that do not meet these eligibility requirements.

3. Account Responsibilities

When you create an account on StudentJoin, you agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
• Maintain the security and confidentiality of your login credentials.
• Promptly notify us of any unauthorized use of your account.
• Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account.
• Not share your account with others or create multiple accounts.

4. Subscription Terms

StudentJoin offers a free plan and a Pro plan:

• Free Plan: Includes access to up to 2 study groups, group browsing, in-app messaging, and basic scheduling at no cost.
• Pro Plan: Priced at $25 per month, billed monthly. Includes unlimited study groups, a verified student badge, priority matching, study analytics, priority support, and early access to new features.

Billing: Pro subscriptions are billed on a monthly recurring basis. Payment is processed securely through Stripe.

Cancellation: You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time through your account settings. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to Pro features until the end of your current billing period. No partial refunds are provided for the remaining days in a billing cycle.

Price Changes: We reserve the right to change subscription pricing. We will provide at least 30 days' notice before any price increase takes effect. Continued use of the Service after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new price.

5. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to use StudentJoin to:

• Violate any applicable law, regulation, or university policy.
• Harass, bully, intimidate, or threaten other users.
• Share or distribute academic dishonesty materials (e.g., exam answers, plagiarized content).
• Post spam, advertisements, or promotional content unrelated to academic collaboration.
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with a university.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts, systems, or networks.
• Upload malicious software, viruses, or any harmful code.
• Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the Service without written permission.

Violations of this policy may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account.

6. Intellectual Property

The StudentJoin platform, including its design, logos, trademarks, code, and content, is the exclusive property of StudentJoin and is protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on our platform without prior written consent.

You retain ownership of the content you post on StudentJoin (such as messages, study notes, and profile information). By posting content, you grant StudentJoin a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute that content within the Service for the purpose of operating and improving the platform.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• StudentJoin is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.
• We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
• StudentJoin shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.
• Our total liability for any claims related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to StudentJoin in the 12 months preceding the claim.
• We are not responsible for the academic outcomes of any study group or collaboration formed through the platform.

8. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or through your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if:

• You violate these Terms or our Acceptable Use Policy.
• Your university email can no longer be verified.
• We are required to do so by law or a valid legal request.
• We discontinue the Service (with reasonable notice provided).

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We may retain certain data as required by law or for legitimate business purposes, as described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware. You agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a prominent notice on the Service at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of StudentJoin after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
